Fire rages at Bronx house; at least 1 injured

PELHAM BAY, the Bronx (PIX11) — More than 100 firefighters battled a two-alarm fire at a two-story house along East 196th Street near Hutchinson River Parkway in the Bronx on Monday.

A call reporting the fire was received at 1:07 p.m. At least one person suffered minor injuries, fire officials said.

The flames and smoke were so intense, firefighters were forced to attack the blaze from the outside. There was concern the house could collapse, officials said. The FDNY called its Hazmat units and Con Edison due to the possibility that a gas leak was fueling the fire, according to fire officials.
