[Men's Track & Field] Franklin & Michaels Earn All-CCAC at Conference Championships
Bourbonnais, Ill. – Junior Conor Michaels (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) placed third in both the Long Jump and the Triple Jump, while freshman Lendale Franklin (Chicago, Ill./Roosevelt/Argo Community) had a third-place finish in the 60m Hurdles for the Saint Xavier University men's track & field team at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Indoor Championships in Bourbonnais, Ill. this past Friday and Saturday. As a team the Cougars placed 5th out of nine teams with a total score of 45.5 points. Michaels is now a two-time All-CCAC honoree in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump. Franklin becomes the first SXU athlete to earn All-CCAC in the 60m Hurdles.
Michaels recorded a distance of 6.58m and was just .2 meters from the first-place finisher. He also established a new personal record (PR) and a school record in the Triple Jump with a distance of 13.34m. Franklin posted a third quickest time in the preliminaries with a mark of 8.69. In the finals he recorded his second fastest time of the season, crossing the line at 8.57 seconds.
