Black trans woman who spent nearly 6 months in jail after ‘bogus’ drug arrest awarded $1.5M

Ju'Zema Goldring was arrested in Oct. 2015 after two Atlanta police officers accused her of jaywalking. During the arrest, they found a "stress" ball in her purse and tested the substance inside the ball for narcotics. Tests found no evidence of illegal drugs but she was later charged with trafficking cocaine.
