Darcey & Stacey: Why Darcey's Dad Doesn't Want Georgi As A Son-In-Law
Mike, the father of Darcey & Stacey Silva, is not at all pleased that his daughter will be marrying Georgi Rusev and doesn't welcome him as a son-in-law. The couple has had a very bumpy ride with Mike privy to a front-row seat. Now, the twins' father is finally putting his foot down.
Darcey has expressed on more than one occasion that she is concerned about whether Georgi is in the relationship for love or money. As TLC fans have noticed, Georgi enjoys spending money - particularly money that he apparently hasn't earned. On Darcey & Stacey, he dropped a large amount of money on two boating excursions that he booked without any concern for his mounting credit card debt. To the Bulgarian, the quality time they've spent together was well worth the price of the yacht. Needless to say, his spending habits have tested his and Darcey's relationship, with Mike finally acknowledging he does not believe Georgi is the right person for his daughter.
Mike has had his own sets of concerns that came out during the Darcey & Stacey finale. While the Silva twins were excited to announce their Maui wedding, Mike just about had a heart attack at the news. Fans could empathize with the father as he took care of Darcey's children while she had surgery. No father wants to see his daughter hurt, but during Darcey & Stacey season 2, Georgi and Darcey went through a very bad breakup. It didn't help that Georgi was still legally married to his first wife at the time. Viewers couldn't agree more with Mike when he stated, "I'm f**king blunt. This is f**king bullsh*t."
Frankly, Georgi doesn't make for the best son-in-law material. The Bulgarian has come off quite rude and cold to not only Darcey but the rest of the Silva family as well. The model's lack of honesty has only given fire to Mike's opinion of him. It is also fair to say that Mike could be holding onto resentment toward Darcey and Georgi after she decided to move in with him and leave her daughters at home. The move showed Mike that both Georgi and Darcey were nowhere ready to become husband and wife.
Mike is fed up with Darcey's fairytale way of thinking and lets his daughter know that she is nowhere near ready for marriage. Darcey & Stacey fans are siding with Mike in the opinion that Georgi would not add anything positive to the family and that the couple is making a huge mistake. With that said, only time will tell if the couple go back to their old ways and Mike turned out to be right.
