Robin Is Forming His Own Epic League Of Antiheroes | Screen Rant

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Robin #11

In the latest issue of DC Comics' Robin, the son of Batman has formed a new team of antiheroes who seem to be a much better fit for him than the Teen Titans were. While he may be the offspring of the Dark Knight, Damian Wayne is also the Heir to the Demon with Ra's al Ghul as his grandfather, having been raised from birth to be a highly-skilled assassin. As such, recent issues have seen Robin exploring the depths of his own darkness, and his new friends may be the way he forges his own path between the Bat and the Demon.

In DC's ongoing Robin series Damian left Gotham and his father behind, having had a major falling out with Batman and the Teen Titans prior to the start of the series following the murder of Alfred Pennyworth he was unable to prevent. As such, Robin entered the Lazarus Tournament, the deadly contest of killers and assassins where each fighter was granted a select number of resurrections thanks to the League of Lazarus. This meant Robin was able to let loose without consequence while seeing if he could overcome his darkness. However, he also began to investigate the suspicious activities of the Leagues of Lazarus and Assassins, both splinter groups who had broken off from his mother and grandfather's League of Shadows. Discovering that the League of the Lazarus was using the tournament to summon a demon to cleanse the world in fire, Robin convinced his fellow fighters to join him in battle against them.

Following the defeat of the League of Lazarus and their leader Mother Soul (Damian's great grandmother), Robin #11 from Joshua Williamson and Gleb Melnikov sees Robin promising his mother and grandfather that he and his friends will track down Master Dusk, the leader of the League of Assassins who fled for Corto Maltese. As such, Robin, Flatline, Ravager, Respawn, and Green Arrow's secret son Connor Hawke have seemingly united as a new team of antiheroes going forward in the DC Universe. Additionally, Damian fits right in with this collection of fighters far better than he ever did with the Titans he left behind.

The five antiheroes certainly make for a formidable team, taking down Dusk with relative ease before celebrating their victory along with the League of Shadows now that their rivals are seemingly no more. While Robin and his new friends don't yet have a name for their team, they could become an extension of Ra's al Ghul and his efforts to make the world a better place (by whatever means necessary). As such, they could certainly give the "League of Shadows" name a whole new meaning by adopting it as their own, working with the Demon's Head and Damian's mother Talia as their top agents.

While Robin and his new team did part ways by the issue's end, it's very likely that they'll reunite soon just like the Justice League. However, these younger antiheroes could be positioned to be a darker version of the Teen Titans, working in the shadows while having no problems getting their hands dirty when necessary. In any case, Robin's new friends and allies seem to match Damian incredibly well.
