COVID impact on standings
Got to looking at schedules and standings last night.
The VCU @ URI games was postponed and won't be played. That was the only game those 2 teams were scheduled to play.
As it sits, URI sits 1/2 game behind UD and VCU sits 1/2 game behind UMass.
Here's my rub. If URI didn't play any other team, I wouldn't have an issue. Being the one team that we lost to, seems to give a competitive advantage for URI. Sure, "just win" is the ultimate answer. However, "just win" means beating the #2 team twice, which is not an easy task. What if that game had been played and VCU won? UD would have a 1 game lead.
On the VCU side, they just lost to UMass for the 2nd time. "Just win" hasn't worked for them. What if that game had been played and VCU won? VCU and UMass would be tied with UMass taking the tie breaker.
One game not played could play a large part in the final standings.
My 2 cents.
