Masked Singer: Armadillo Costume Revealed Ahead Of Season 7 Premiere
As The Masked Singer gears up for season 7, premiering on March 9, the show has announced the addition of the Armadillo costume. Over the last several weeks, costume announcements have rolled out, along with which team they belong to. Fans know that The Masked Singer is introducing a new way of splitting contestants this season: The Good, The Bad and The Cuddly. Almost all of the costumes have been introduced, along with who is filling each team. Fans don't know at which point they will meet each team. It's unknown if the premiere episode will feature contestants from every team or introduce the teams individually over multiple episodes.
While every Masked Singer season sees a new crop of celebrity talent take the stage, the host and judging panel remains unchanged. Nick Cannon will once again host, with Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger serving as judges. Every season has seen a variety of guests judges join the panel too. Nobody has been announced for The Masked Singer season 7 so far. But one of the show's panelists may not be too happy during one particular episode. That's because, in the show's first ever unmasking spoiler, fans discovered that Rudy Giuliani will appear as one of the unmasked celebrities. Not only was the audience shocked, but Ken stormed off the set and Robin reportedly followed to check on him. Jenny and Nicole stayed put, even talking with Rudy, according to reports.
Now ET has revealed another costume for The Masked Singer season 7: the Armadillo. This masked celebrity will compete as part of Team Good, alongside McTerrier, Prince, Firefly and Ringmaster. The ornate Armadillo costume is completely golden from head to toe. The character even wears a large pair of golden boots. ET noted that this costume reminds them of David Schwimmer's character on Friends. His character, Ross Geller, dressed up in a very similar looking Armadillo costume in an episode where he taught his son, Ben, all about Hanukkah. This could lead to fans thinking he's inside the costume--or since Ben was played by Riverdale star Cole Sprouse, perhaps it could be Cole under the mask.
This announcement also comes with news that the Wildcard format has been dropped for The Masked Singer season 7, instead introducing more contestants up front. Each team (Good, Bad and Cuddly) will feature five contestants each. In addition to Team Good, rivals Queen Cobra, Hydra, Cyclops, Ram and Jack in the Box make up Team Bad. Team Cuddly, while supposedly friendlier, are still in competition with both teams. That team is made up of Thingamabob, Space Bunny, Baby Mammoth, Lemur and the newly announced Miss Teddy.
With a whole new batch of yet-to-be-unmasked celebrities, fans are anxiously awaiting the season premiere of The Masked Singer. From the controversy of Rudy's involvement to the shakeup of these new teams, there is much to be revealed. Fans don't know the specific format for season 7 or how the new teams will play a role in that. Last season was the first time a winner from each group was crowned, but there were only two groups. With three teams of singers, it would be interesting if each team had a winner going into the finale. Plus, some fans may like the decision to get rid of the Wildcards. Regardless of The Masked Singer's changes, there's already lots for fans talk about for season 7.
The Masked Singer airs Wednesday, March 9 at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
