Coronation Street star Charlie De Melo’s secret EastEnders role revealed

0

WHILE his character is at the centre of an ongoing plot alongside Abi and Toyah, Charlie De Melo has decided to quit the cobbles.

Prior to his time in Coronation Street, the actor has had a forgotten stint in EastEnders.

Charlie played in a rival soap

As a familiar face on the box, actor Charlie De Melo has several TV credits under his belt which include appearances in Doctors, Casualty and The Interceptors.

But before the Corrie star became famous as Imran Habeeb on ITV, he had secured himself a role in a rival soap over on BBC One.

Fans appear to have forgotten that Charlie played the role of Jaz Jones in 2017, on EastEnders.

Charlie then slipped into the uniform of a police officer who was involved in the Taylor family storyline.

At the time, Louise Mitchell (portrayed by Tilly Keeper) was terrified Keegan Baker (Zack Morris) had raped her after spiking her drink.

Near the end of 2017, it was announced that Charlie had decided to leave Walford and set his sights on Weatherfield instead as Rana Habeeb’s brother.

Since then, and for less than five years, his role as the solicitor has been one of his main breaks.

However, Charlie has deemed the time has come for him to move on once again.

Reports have confirmed that the actor could be leaving his spot on the Street.

“Charlie’s loved his time on the soap but the time is right to try new things”, a source told The Sun.

“He’s hugely talented and very ambitious and wants to see what else is out there. He will always cherish his time in Weatherfield but for now it’s goodbye.”

Corrie boss Iain MacLeod has teased an explosive storyline for his spectacular exit, stating that it will cause havoc in Imran’s relationship with Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor).

“Imran is forced to look in a mirror and consider himself and the man who he is – he could go to the dark side”, Iain said.

Charlie will reportedly film the dramatic scenes in coming weeks as his departure from Weatherfield is expected to air during the summer of 2022.

But what can ITV viewers expect?
