Far Cry 6: How to Unlock The Macarena Gun (Discos Locos)
The Macarena Gun, officially named Discos Locos, caught players’ attention right from when Far Cry 6 was being teased before its launch in October 2021. The weapon plays Macarena by Los del Rio while players lock onto their target, before launching CDs at Anton Castillo’s soldiers. The weapon is reminiscent of the Saw Launcher in Far Cry New Dawn, only launching discs instead of saw blades. With two firing modes, Discos Locos is great for short and medium-range combat.
Far Cry 6 brings many features adding the fun sense of humor fans of the Far Cry series are used to. Amongst a rapid firework launcher and a harpoon-firing crossbow, The Macarena Gun is just one of the many creative weapons the title makes available to the player. These weapons are known as Resolver Weapons in the game and are considered to deal more damage than other weapons but tend to have specific weaknesses.
Discos Locos doesn’t only give the player a fun and creative way to take down targets in Far Cry 6, it also deals a huge amount of damage. Players may want to consider making the improvised disc launcher one of their primary weapons, even with its slow reload speed. The Macarena Gun is worth finding as the fun had, sneaking up on unsuspecting soldiers with a popular soundtrack makes the need for the weapon to be reloaded so regularly obsolete. Weapon upgrades are an important feature in the game and the Discos Locos can be upgraded to cause even more damage and improve its rate of fire. Players can also upgrade its audio mode, allowing players to play songs from USB when aiming down the sights, instead of just the Macarena.
Players will find that acquiring Discos Locos in Far Cry 6 will not be achievable until after spending several hours in Yara. Firstly, players will have to reach Rank 6 (Sargento) before being able to purchase it directly from Juan, based at Libertad HQ, or from any of his arms dealers at Guerilla Camps. If the player is not at least of Rank 6, the weapon will not be purchasable. Once unlocked, the weapon will cost the player 100 Depleted Uranium, which can be obtained by opening yellow crates at Anti-Air Sites. These yellow crates typically contain 50 Depleted Uranium each, so it is advised that the player accumulates as much Depleted Uranium as possible early on in the game, as it is a rare currency in Yara.
Once the player has the famous Discos Locos, they can get to grips with its two distinct firing modes. Firing from the hip it will act almost like a shotgun as the spindle will speed up, shattering the CD, making it perfect for close combat. Aiming down the sights will launch whole CDs a great distance, slicing into anything they hit. The Macarena Gun’s ability to switch between two firing modes, play music, and deal a lot of damage, makes it perfect for players exploring Yara.
Far Cry 6 is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 4/5, and PC.
