Survivor 42: Meet Jackson Fox, The 1st Openly Trans Castaway

0

Jackson Fox is coming to Survivor as the first openly trans cast member. Jackson has been very vulnerable about his journey throughout his transition. The Houston native seems determined to take the resilience he's built-in life and apply it to the game. Though he recognizes it could be the most draining and challenging experience of his life.

Survivor is known as one of the most extreme social experiments on television, and after dozens of seasons, the stakes are higher than ever. After unfortunate delays, Jeff Probst promised season 42 would be the most dangerous yet, and Jackson better be ready for an even more challenging game than ever before. Without a history of including the trans community, Jackson will be bringing his personal experience to the table and representation that is much needed. While there have been other LGBTQIA* cast members and many discussions of LGBTQIA* culture Jackson will bring a brand new perspective on gender identity to the game.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Jackson is a healthcare worker who is passionate about puzzling, weightlifting, and dog walking. He is also incredibly proud of starting his own company and living as his authentic self. Jackson's Instagram catalogs many of the milestones of his transition, including drastic before and afters. Jackson's season 42 castmates will likely be curious to hear about his journey. While he recognizes not everyone's experience is the same, he says he doesn't regret his thirty-eight years living as a woman and believes everything happened as it was supposed to, and is grateful for his memories growing up. Jackson has also been super transparent about the negative side effects of his many surgeries, including bruising and nerve damage. He believes more openness on transitions' pros and cons will help normalize the process. Jackson even celebrated a pre-surgery COVID test earlier this winter.

Jackson has no patience for disorganization and indirect communication when it comes to the game. He needs people to get to the point as he is someone who's kind but still assertive. With his desire to get things done and unique story, Survivor 42 is shaping up to be way more interesting than Survivor 41. Jackson believes his gameplay style could most resemble Elaine because she was "hard-working, confident, resilient, and played a hell of a mind game." As a survivor in life, Jackson has faith that he could be a survivor in the game as well.

While he has some formidable competitors to take down with their own stories of resilience, there's a good chance that with the right alliance, Jackson could go far. Survivor 42 will be bigger and better than ever with Jackson on board.
