GTA 5 Details Cross-Gen & New Online Content For PS5 & Xbox Series X

0

Further details have been announced by Rockstar Games ahead of the release of Grand Theft Auto 5 and GTA Online on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The enhanced version of GTA V for the then-next generation was announced in 2020, surprising very few people. Since then, it has been delayed until March 15, 2022. With March already here, it’s time for fans to prepare their consoles for the new features that are on the way.

It's been more than eight years since Grand Theft Auto 5 initially launched, and when it did, it broke new ground with its animations, freedom, and world. It’s now the second-best-selling game of all time with more than 160 million copies sold. The biggest way GTA 5 has maintained relevance and sales for so long is GTA Online, the portal through which fans of the chaotic narrative and gameplay of the base game can create their own characters and thrust themselves into the danger. Rockstar has continued to update Grand Theft Auto's online content throughout the years, keeping things fresh and lively for the loyal players who have stuck around and giving new players something to be excited about.

According to a press release from Rockstar Games, this train does not appear to be slowing down with the introduction of Grand Theft Auto 5 to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. As already promised, Rockstar has given attention to the technical and graphical pinnacles of the base game. Players will be able to choose between the following three new graphical settings via Grand Theft Auto 5: Fidelity Mode (“highest visual quality”), Performance Mode (“most responsive gameplay experience”), and a hybrid between the two called Performance RT that is exclusive to the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Meanwhile, GTA Online’s improvements are more based on content than technical prowess. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players will be immediately treated to new vehicles in Los Santos, as well as Hao’s Special Works, an addition to the Los Santos Car Meet that “encompasses best-in-class vehicle upgrades, a new class of Races… and a weekly rotation of Hao’s Special Works Time Trials…” The Career Builder will also take center stage on March 15. This allows new players or players resetting their characters to gain GTA$4,000,000 to spend upon entering the crime business. However, this is optional, as Rockstar has made it possible to transfer progress and characters from the previous generation to the new one in both GTA Online and GTA V. In fact, players can start the process for transferring Story Mode progress as early as today through the Rockstar Games Social Club.

While fans certainly have reasons to be excited about the latest re-release of GTA V, it’s likely that many can’t help but be disappointed that they’re still waiting on Grand Theft Auto 6. Over the past couple of years, many people have favored speculating about the next entry in the series instead of gushing over new updates for the previous one. Other than news that Grand Theft Auto 6 is officially in development, nearly all of the information fans have access to is speculation and rumors.

Regardless of any progress on Grand Theft Auto 6, Rockstar seems both willing and eager to continue expanding on GTA V and GTA Online. On March 15, the two games will officially have been released on seven different platforms, dating back to 2013. Grand Theft Auto V has come to be known as one of the quintessential open-world RPGs, and it shows no signs of slowing down.
