GTA Trilogy Fix Brings Back Missing Claude Feature | Screen Rant
A new patch for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has fixed a number of issues across the games, even bringing back the fan-favorite traffic reactions from Claude in GTA 3. As part of the new February GTA Trilogy patch, fans are starting to see the return of features from the original games, which were absent when the collection released in 2021.
GTA Trilogy, a remaster of the first 3D GTA games, Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, was reviled by fans and critics for its many bugs and removed content. This critical disdain also came from Rockstar's removal of the original games from digital stores prior to The Definitive Edition's launch. Although the company has since backtracked on this and offered those who purchased the GTA Trilogy on PC the original games for free, along with an extra free Rockstar game of their choosing or virtual currency for GTA Online or Red Dead Online, it's been hard to win back fans still angry over the launch. Rockstar admitted the GTA launch was a failure, and has spent the following months rolling out patches to get the remastered editions to the levels that fans expected.
Twitter user InfinityHimself has shared one of the returning features added in the recent GTA Trilogy patch, confirming that GTA 3's Claude will once again react to traffic as he did in the original game (via ComicBook). While not a game-changing feature, the inclusion of these fan-favorite reactions show Claude responding to and occasionally flipping off traffic as cars honk at him for standing in the road for too long. Not only does it make the game truer to its original version, it also helps to make the game world - and its characters - feel more alive.
It's unclear why these features were missing from GTA Trilogy at launch, and many fans have speculated that Grove Street Games, who was also behind the previous mobile ports across the series, took from those versions rather than the originals. Mobile ports are usually expected to lose more minor details in order to run smoothly on those devices, but when a game is released on consoles and PC, especially with a title including the term "definitive," fans would expect them to be based on the original versions of the games, complete with all the hidden features and attention to detail Rockstar originally included.
Due to the very public poor response that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition received upon its launch, Grove Street Games has had a long road ahead with regards to winning back fans of the series. It's clear that the developer taken this into account, and patches like this one have improved the GTA: Definitive Edition significantly. Fans can only hope that further updates will restore these remasters to the greatness of the originals, and will provide an enjoyable nostalgic experience to tide them over until the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto 6 is finally released.
