Outlander Holds Live Performances To Promote Season 6 Premiere

0

Live performances were held throughout the day in Glasgow, Scotland to promote the premiere of Outlander season 6. Outlander first hit screens back in 2014 and became an instant hit amongst audiences. The series details the life of Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) a combat nurse in 1945, whose life is completely turned around after she’s inexplicably transported through time to the 1700s while visiting Scotland.

Season 5 of this much-loved series wrapped filming in November 2019, with the season premiere quickly following a few months later in February 2020. Keeping in line with their quick schedule, production on season 6 was set to begin in May 2020, however, there were several complications related to the COVID-19 pandemic that delayed filming until early 2021. The most notable issues were the scripts going through rewrites to account for new safety restrictions. After patiently waiting two years, fans are finally set to reunite with their favorite Outlander characters on March 6, 2022. Unfortunately, Outlander season 6 will have fewer episodes than its previous, with COVID-19 playing a major role in this decision, but hopefully, the longer episodes will make up for it.

Just ahead of the premiere date of Outlander season 6, Starz promoted the show with a series of live performances held in Glasgow city center on March 3 (via Jane Sour and Outlander on Twitter). Bagpipes and choir singing was heard throughout the day by those visiting the city at the steps of the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. The actors sang a rendition of the Skye Boat Song (Outlander’s recognizable theme song) as they maneuvered around an active Glasgow Street. After the delay, it appears that Starz is pulling out all the stops to create some buzz for season 6 of Outlander. Although the show needs no help drumming up excitement for the series, with Outlander’s success securing it a season 7 and a prequel series. There have been some mixed responses from the actors setting up season 6 of Outlander. Overall though, many responses seem to suggest an intense season for the characters, with actor Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser) stating it will be “dark” and “exciting.”

Hosting live performances allows for an incredibly unique experience for the audience, but sadly this does mean that many Outlander fans were unable to catch this thrilling performance in person. While there’s been no official word from Starz as of yet, there was a professional camera seen weaving its way through the actors earlier today. So, there’s a chance that fans who missed seeing them live, will be able to catch up alongside Outlander’s season 6 premiere.
