Tottenham moved to within three points of the Premier League’s top four after Harry Kane scored twice in a 5-0 rout of a woeful Everton side in north London.
After a bright opening from the visitors, it was all Spurs as Kane bagged a double, with an own goal from Michael Keane and further strikes from Son Heung-Min and Sergio Reguilon completing the scoring.
Spurs made one change for the visit of Everton with Rodrigo Bentancur returning to the side in place of Harry Winks, who dropped to the bench.
Dele Alli was named on the bench on his first return to Tottenham following his January exit, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin made his first start for a couple of months.
Spurs went ahead in the 14th minute as Michael Keane put through his own net under pressure from Harry Kane after a cross fizzed in from the left by Ryan Sessegnon.
It was 2-0 three minutes later as Son Heung-min fired home after being played in by Dejan Kulusevski. However, Jordan Pickford should have done better as Son’s effort went right through him.
Son and Matt Doherty missed big chances to make it 3-0 but Kane made no mistake in the 37th minute.
Doherty played a brilliant first-time through-ball and Kane, who was ruled just onside by VAR, finished in clinical style.
Reguilon makes spectacular entrance
A rampant Spurs added a fourth just 40 seconds into the second period through substitute Sergio Reguilon.
Anthony Gordon lost possession and Tottenham broke at pace through Son, who fed Dejan Kulusevski. The Swede’s ball to the far post missed Kane but Reguilon was there to sweep home.

It was 5-0 with barely an hour on the clock when Kane grabbed his second of the match. Doherty’s ball to the far post was met by a cushioned volley into the far corner by the England skipper.
Spurs continued to pour forward, with Kulusevski blazing over the bar and substitute Steven Bergwijn volleying straight at Pickford.
There was a nice moment with just over 20 minutes to go as the Tottenham faithful stood as one and applauded as Dele Alli was introduced from the Everton bench.
The home side saw out the rest of the match with controlled possession. They also restricted the Toffees to zero shots on target ahead of Saturday’s huge clash at Manchester United.
As for Everton, Lampard’s men are in big trouble and remain just a point above the drop zone.
