Tottenham Hotspur were back to winning ways this evening and in some style, putting five past Everton without reply in North London.
Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:
Hugo Lloris – 7 – A bit of a spectator beyond passing around at the back with his feet. It was a cold evening too, I hope he has a hot chocolate after the game.
Matt Doherty – 9.5 – One of his best games in a Tottenham shirt. Clinical in the final third, came up with a superb through ball to assist Kane and was so good in tight areas. Another assist in the second half for Kane, which might have been even better!
Cristian Romero – 7.5 – A little rash in the challenge on Richarlison and you never want Romero on a yellow in the first half. All-in-all, his no-nonsense style worked well but he had to be taken off early just to be safe.
Eric Dier – 8 – So calm and composed on the ball at the back. Nothing seems to fluster him these days and he always picks the right pass, whether that be a short one, one between the lines into midfield, or a long raking crossfield peach.
Ben Davies – 8 – Some great defending on display down the left against the likes of Gordon but he also used the ball extremely well in some tough areas. Steady performance.
Ryan Sessegnon – 8 – Coming into his own in this wing-back system. His runs from deep and final ball are superb. Great assist for the opener. Needs to improve on the ball in his own half though. Guilty of giving it away too often. Taken off at half-time with an injury.
Rodrigo Bentancur – 8.5 – He makes it all look so easy. Covers a lot of ground, gets stuck into the challenge and uses the ball so positive and with good effect. Superb signing.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 8 – Really battled in the engine room tonight. He really thrives in these physical midfield battles and today was no different. Solid foundation for Spurs.
Dejan Kulusevski – 9 – A lovely assist for Son’s goal with a poke around the corner. He may not have as much pace as some wingers but he oozes quality on the ball. Another fantastic assist for Reguilon in the second half and some fantastic final third play.
Heung-min Son – 7.5 – Sums Son up of late really. It was far from his best night in a Spurs shirt but he still came up with the goods. Could have had a hat-trick out there really. Should have fed Sessegnon in the first-half too. Lots to like and lots to question.
Harry Kane – 9.5 – When you give Harry Kane time and space in the middle of the park, he runs the show and he makes it look easy. That was the case again this evening. Not only that but he also got in the box to score two and force an own goal. Superb display.
Substitutes:
Sergio Reguilon – 8 – Came on for the injured Sessegnon and made his mark by scoring with his first touch. Was a real danger throughout the second half.
Davinson Sanchez -7.5 – Defended well and went close with a header in the second half.
Steven Bergwijn – 7.5 – Looked really bright in attack off the bench.
