Richmond FC spring soccer registrations are rolling in, and the numbers are incredible for our 2022 spring season.
While we saw a big jump in last year’s sign-ups, 2022 has seen a whopping 30% increase in numbers, including a large number of players who have never played organized soccer before.
Through an ongoing outreach program designed to help Richmond families connect with soccer, philanthropic endeavours that have brought the sport to lower income families, a sustained effort to deliver more programming to each member while keeping fees from rising, and bringing in globally recognized coaching and development experts, Richmond FC is delivering on its promise of last year to be bigger, better, and broader.
Recent grants from Viasport and Jumpstart have helped us transition kids from our Free Football for Food Bank Families program into our regular programming, and sponsorship dollars from Coho Commissary, The Gaming Stadium, and Go Auto Columbia Chrysler, as well as our annual car lottery, have ensured our families receive free playing strips every season that they get to keep.
Our next push is to get the long-discussed Boyd clubhouse project moving again, with the formation of a Building Committee under way to liaise with the city. Beyond that, we’re working with councillor Bill McNulty on a long range plan to bring more facilities to families in East and Central Richmond.
