Never Have I Ever has been renewed for a series-ending season 4 at Netflix. The coming-of-age comedy show that follows the life of an Indian-American teen comes from the mind of Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher. While the show is set in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley, it is loosely based on The Office star's own childhood experiences growing up in the Boston area. Never Have I Ever stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Poorna Jagannathan, Darren Barnet, Jaren Lewison, Ramona Young, and Lee Rodriguez.
Diving deeper into the show's story, Devi Vishwakumar (Ramakrishnan) is a 15-year-old Indian-American Tamil girl coping with the sudden loss of her father, Mohan (Sendhil Ramamurthy), the psychological trauma of which causes her to lose the use of her legs for three months. After being confined to a wheelchair for her freshman year of high school, Devi enters her sophomore year determined to have a better social life, though her friends, family, and struggles with personal identity make things difficult for Devi. She eventually finds herself caught up in a complicated love triangle with Paxton (Barnet) and Ben (Lewiston).
Now, Netflix announces some exciting news for fans of Never Have I Ever. The series has been renewed for season 4, several months ahead of its season 3 premiere, which is currently scheduled for summer of this year. However, season 4, which is expected sometime in 2023, will be the show's last.

The season 4 renewal comes at a rather unexpected time, as Never Have I Ever season 3 just wrapped filming in Malibu, revealed via some behind-the-scenes photos posted by Barnet. The early renewal indicates that Netflix has a ton of confidence in Never Have I Ever, which is wholly justified by the show's performance. In 2020, its debut season was viewed by 40 million households in its first four weeks, and both seasons 1 & 2 scored strong reviews from critics.
Other than its strong viewership, Never Have I Ever's South Asian representation has been regarded as a watershed moment in the film & TV industry, and has received praise for smashing several South Asian stereotypes. The show has also made a star out of Ramakrishnan, who voices the role of Priya in Pixar's Turning Red and will also star in the Netflix romantic-comedy The Netherfield Girls. Thanks to the recent renewal, Ramakrishnan will also be seen in two more seasons of Never Have I Ever on Netflix as Devi's senior year of high school unfolds.
