TLC’s series, My 600-Lb Life, documents the successes of weight-loss participants over time.
However, the show has also had a handful of tragedies over the years.
Who from the show has died?
Below is a list of participants who have passed away on TLC’s series, My 600-Lb Life.
Season One:
Ashley Randall
Ashley Randall, 24, was the youngest participant on the show.
She was 617 pounds at the start of the series, but with the help of Dr Now, as well as gastric bypass surgery, she achieved a weight of 265 after nearly five years.
After her father’s death in 2015, her weight fluctuated, but she was able to get it back down to 272 pounds.
According to Looper, “an online obituary confirmed that after being hospitalized in her hometown of Killeen, Texas, she died on October 8, 2021,” aged 40.
Henry Foots
Henry Foots was one of the first participants of the show’s debut season.
According to the Cinemaholic, by the age of 47, Foots was more than 700 pounds as a result of his lifelong food addiction.
With the help of Dr Now’s program, gastric bypass surgery, and two skin removal surgeries, Foots dropped down to 275 pounds.
Foots reportedly passed away of unspecified causes on May 16, 2013, over the course of the series’ run.
Season Four:
Sean Miliken
When Sean Miliken joined season 4, he weighed a total of 919 pounds and was only 26-years-old.
He starred on the show in 2016 and was unable to stand for more than 30 seconds at a time – making him the show’s heaviest patient in history.
He passed away on February 17, 2019, at a hospital in Texas after suffering medical complications from an infection at the early age of just 29.
Over the course of his weight loss journey, Sean lost over 400lb.

Season Five:
James King
At the start of the show, James King was 791 pounds.
Instead of losing weight, he gained more for a while after being reluctant to follow Dr Now’s diet plan. By 2020, however, King managed to lose 340 pounds.
TMZ reported that on April 3, 2020, after a series of health complications, including kidney failure, King passed away at the age of 49.
Season Six:
Robert Buchel
Robert Buchel weighed 842 pounds at the start of the show and lost more than 100 pounds during his first month.
On Dr Now’s program, and following a lymphatic system surgery, he was able to bring his weight down to 502 pounds.
On November 15, 2017, Buchel suffered a heart attack in his sleep and passed away at a hospital at the age of 41.
James “L.B.” Bonner
James “L.B.” Bonner started off at a weight of over 600 pounds and dropped to 326 pounds after Dr Now’s program. He seemed to be doing great on his weight-loss journey.
In August of 2018, however, Bonner wrote on social media that he had “realized a few things over the last few days,” and decided that it was “time that I face my demons head-on.”
The 30-year-old died from suicide in his South Carolina home.
Lisa Fleming
Personal tragedy led Lisa Fleming to a weight of 704 pounds when she first appeared on the show.
She was dropped from Dr Now’s program after six months due to her inability to stick to her course.
Fleming died of a heart attack in August of 2018 at the age of 50.
Renee Biran
Renee Biran came to Dr Now in Season 6 at 631 pounds and was dependent on her family for basic needs.
A strict diet and therapy helped her drop a total of 250 pounds, but she was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease, Guillain-Barre Syndrome later after the show.
Biran passed away on May 14, 2021, at the age of 56.
Her cause of death remains unknown.
Season Seven:
Kelly Mason
Kelly Mason weighed 725 pounds weight at the start of the show due to a slew of health issues, including high blood pressure, type II diabetes, and arthritis.
By sticking to Dr Now’s program, Mason dropped down to 383 pounds.
Unfortunately, she died at the age of 41 after suffering a heart attack on February 15, 2019.
Season Eight:
Coliesa McMillan
Coliesa McMillan started her journey at 643 pounds and lost nearly 150 pounds on Dr Now’s program.
Her massive heart health issues, however, left her fighting for her life after corrective surgery.
She passed away at the age of 41 on September 22, 2020.
Gina Krasley
Gina Krasley weighed over 600 pounds when she sought out Dr Now’s help.
Krasley reportedly lost 300 pounds by 2021 but died at her home on August 1, 2021.
Her cause of death remains unknown.
Destinee Lashaee
Destinee Lashaee, the first transgender star of the show, passed away on February 8, 2022, after taking her own life.
Prior to her death, Destinee shared several troubling messages on social media suggesting she was struggling with her mental health.
She wrote: “If I was surrounded by all my tears I’d be floating in the ocean.”
At the start of the season, in 2019, Destinee weighed in at 669 pounds.
She lost nearly 500 pounds after the show.
