Summer House: Why Fans Think Loverboy Is Problematic For Kyle & Amanda
Fans have watched Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula’s relationship since Summer House season 1, and now that they’re working together for Kyle’s beverage company Loverboy, their relationship has become even more strained on Summer House season 9. Back in the day, Kyle and Amanda started out their relationship as a casual summer hookup in the Hamptons. Over time, however, Kyle realized that he wanted to settle down with Amanda. They soon became a Summer House resident couple, but things did start getting rocky due to Kyle’s partying ways.
Kyle and Amanda were supposed to get married in September 2020 but had to push back the wedding due to COVID-19. During this season of Summer House, they are finally planning the wedding of their dreams, but fans can see that there is a strain between Kyle and Amanda. Kyle’s frequent complaint was that Amanda needed to step up - both in their wedding planning and in running the Loverboy company. Amanda’s biggest issue with Kyle was his excessive drinking, and during an earlier episode on Summer House season 9, Amanda got triggered when Kyle stayed out all night at a bar and didn’t pick up her phone calls.
Summer House fans have commented that Kyle and Amanda appear to be miserable due to the stress of Loverboy, and a simple solution would be for them to stop working together. Prior to working at Loverboy, Amanda had a career as a graphic designer. When Kyle launched his hard tea brand, he convinced Amanda to quit her job and work as Creative and Branding for Loverboy. However, working together seems to put an extra strain on their Summer House relationship, which was already riddled with issues. A fan noted on Reddit, “I think having a separate workspace and Amanda leaving Loverboy to go back to working at a separate company would help them immensely. They’ll never quit the show, too much [money] to be made there. I love my husband but could never work with him, our work styles much like Kyle and Amanda’s are just way too different and would definitely lead to conflict.”
Some fans have attributed Amanda’s unenthusiasm to being bored with working with Kyle. Another fan wrote, “Regarding Amanda’s work ethic: I wonder it’s not laziness but boredom? As someone who’s married to a graphic designer, it seems the thrill of the job comes with working with different companies, coming up with re-designs, new logos, working on new campaigns. Seems like the Loverboy font and design is done, she’s basically just changing up the colors as new flavors come out?” A Summer House fan suggested that she freelance on the side to have a career outside of their company. Another speculated that if they stop working together, they might end up realizing that their relationship is doomed and break up.
In a recent episode, Kyle confessed to fellow Summer House friend Danielle Olivera that she and Amanda had nothing in common other than Loverboy. Danielle seemed very concerned about his statement and asked him if he and Amanda still wanted to get married. When Amanda found out what Kyle had said, she made excuses for him, saying that he says mean things when he drinks. Amanda and Kyle managed to work it out and tied the knot in September 2021. Their wedding will be featured on this season of Summer House, and fans can’t wait to watch what happens on Amanda and Kyle’s big day.
