Jennifer Garner Says an Alcohol Fire Almost Put Her Kitchen in 'Peril' on Christmas Eve

Jennifer Garner narrowly avoided a kitchen disaster on Christmas Eve!

The 49-year-old actress stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday (March 9), where she shared a video of herself dealing with an alcohol fire on her stove.

“I didn’t actually set it on fire… I might have put my kitchen in peril. It was Christmas Eve and I was making a beef bourguignon,” she said of the clip. “I doubled it, and I have doubled it before but I’ve never doubled the alcohol all at once. It’s cognac, it’s flammable.”

“I was prepared to do something, I stood and made a face. I grabbed the lid, I was ready to put the lid on top and if that didn’t work I was going to use baking powder/soda,” Jennifer added. Andy Lassner interjected to confirm that while baking soda is safe, baking powder is highly flammable.

Later in the interview, Ellen asked The Adam Project star how she was feeling about turning 50 next month.

“I’m excited, why not? I don’t know why I feel surprised that I’m suddenly turning 50… I like the idea that all of a sudden I’m allowing myself to believe that I know what I know. It’s empowering,” she said.
