0

On the hit-CW show Supernaturalthere have been a plethora of villains to make Sam and Dean's lives hell literally. It will be interesting to see if any of them will make a comeback in the Supernatural prequel, The Winchesters, which is in the works right now.

However, not all of the main villains of the show are the same kind of evil. While some eventually became softer and more human, some were revealed to be much more vicious than first thought to be. Whatever may be the degree of their wickedness, they are certainly memorable for every fan of the show.

10 Crowley

Despite coming on the show as a villain, Crowley quickly became a fan-favorite character due to his tongue-in-cheek humor and sassy persona. As the king of hell, he had done a lot of malicious things. He even instigated Castiel, an angel, to open the gates of Purgatory resulting in the release of Leviathans on Earth.

Sam almost cured him in the final trial to close the gates of Hell in the season 8 finale and after that, Crowley became something akin to a human. He grew to be a lot more sensitive and became an ally to the Winchesters until finally sacrificing his life for them in the season 12 finale. This is why he is the least evil main villain on the show.

9 Zachariah

Zachariah was hell-bent on kickstarting the Apocalypse and letting the human race perish. When Dean outright denied letting Michael possess his body, he left no stone unturned in persuading him to say 'Yes' and bring on the apocalypse.

He was a cold-hearted manipulator and extremely evil but he was just a pawn of heaven in the grand scheme of things, who was trying to complete a task that he was assigned.

8 Amara

Amara or the Darkness was released in the world when Dean killed Death. She wreaked havoc immediately upon her arrival. She injected people with a kind of darkness and these people would turn into zombie-like creatures and start mindlessly killing other humans.

By the end of season 11, it turned out that she only had a beef with her brother, God, which is why she was insistent on destroying his beloved creation, humans. She redeemed herself and stopped killing anyone completely and even tried to help the Winchesters in the final season.

7 Lilith

Lilith is a recurring villain on the show. She was one of the most loyal servants of Lucifer because she was the first demon he created. She played a major role in Lucifer breaking free from his cage, so her vices know no bounds.

However, the thing that she is most despised for in the fandom is because she helped make sure Dean goes to Hell at the end of season 3. To top it all off, she sent a hellhound on him that resulted in Dean dying brutally, being ripped up. It is one of the worst things to have happened to Dean.

6 Azazel

Azazel is the yellow-eyed demon who started it all. He was the villain in the first and second seasons of the show and if he hadn't killed burned Mary Winchester on the ceiling of Sam's nursery, the Winchesters probably would have never become hunters.

He was also a loyal servant of Lucifer, who was trying to find the true vessels for him by making a bunch of young people kill people one another including Sam to achieve that goal. He is the reason Sam was killed at the end of season 2, which is one of the best deaths in Supernatural. He has always been the doom of the Winchester family, condemning them all to the worst fates.

5 Apocalypse World Michael

Apocalypse world Michael brought an apocalypse to his world and caused an immense amount of death and destruction on it. So, he made an entire world suffer but he wasn't done. Upon coming to Sam and Dean's world, he made a deal with Dean to help them kill Lucifer by possessing Dean for a short while.

He broke the deal and took complete control of Dean's body intending to bring destruction to this universe too. The apocalypse-world Michael was much worse than the Michael of Sam and Dean's world. He was a megalomaniac, who wanted to kill God and all his universes and become the new God.

4 Abbadon

Abaddon was a Knight of Hell, who single-handedly exterminated the American Men of Letters. She had a wicked plan of wanting to rule over demons, angels, as well as, humans. She started turning innocent people into demons to build her demon army and take down Crowley's rule.

Therefore, she has killed a large number of hunters and humans, and with her plan of becoming the Queen of Hell, she would have killed many more innocents if she hadn't been killed by Dean.

3 Dick Roman

Dick Roman was the leader of the Leviathan army that took over Earth in season 7. He was a clever man and unlike any other monster because he didn't just want his race of monsters to just feed on humans, but subjugate them. He was a clever man who had an elaborate plan of getting to rule over humanity.

He also considered all other monsters as beneath him, especially demons, and had planned to annihilate them after taking control of humans. Thus, Dick Roman and his band of Leviathans were much more sinister than average monsters on Supernatural.

2 Chuck

Chuck was revealed to be the God in season 10 and for most of the show, he was portrayed as an absent God, who didn't much care about humans. However, he became the main antagonist of the final season of the show and was revealed to be controlling the lives of the Winchester brothers from day one and making them his puppets for the sake of his entertainment.

Therefore, he was playing with the lives of all humans like they were characters of a story and Sam and Dean were his favorite characters, and he liked to play with their lives the most. This shows how twisted of a God he is that he used real people as his playthings.

1 Lucifer

Lucifer is the literal Satan and due to all the havoc he has wreaked in the world and the lives of Sam and Dean, he takes the cake for the most despicable villain in the show. He has killed innumerable innocents and also Gods of many religions. When Sam's soul was stuck in his Cage, Lucifer tortured him so brutally that Sam had strong PTSD symptoms after he came back and had to be admitted to a mental hospital.

When he came back later in the show, he killed Castiel right in front of Dean. He was even willing to kill his son, Jack after he refused to become his ally, signifying the extent of his ruthlessness.
