Animal Crossing Villager Breaks The Fourth Wall By Smelling Real Popcorn
An Animal Crossing: New Horizons villager just broke the fourth wall thanks to a favorite movie theater snack. Animal Crossing: New Horizons villagers are a major topic of discussion amongst fans of the game. Players often develop their own distinct roster of favorite villagers, and then there are the Animal Crossing villagers that fans agree are the worst.
When Animal Crossing: New Horizons released in 2020 fans began their journey on the island with two main villagers. Many fans would restart the game a few times until they got the villager they were hoping for. There were some villagers that players automatically skipped over, regardless of who the second villager was, and others that fans kept even if they weren't fond of the second villager. As time goes on more villagers come and visit the island and can be invited to stay. Players learned different ways to kick off undesirable Animal Crossing villagers and some can be quite hilarious, like sending them mean letters.
Reddit user ForlornFairy shared a funny image of the adorable horse villager, Peaches, telling her character about how she could smell popcorn earlier. As Peaches was saying this, ForlonFairt was eating popcorn in real-life, which made for a hilarious fourth-wall-breaking moment. Villagers can often say some interesting catchphrases, and players can also customize them once they become good friends with the villager. This can be anything from a nickname for the player or a catchphrase the villager says at the end of their sentence. These can be as unique as possible, but can sometimes lead to some inappropriate Animal Crossing moments.
There are not many fourth-wall-breaking moments that happen in Animal Crossing. The game does not give much opportunity for that, despite the fact the game uses the player's real time zone for the hours and celebrates birthdays and holidays based on real-life events. The game even allows players to join other fans on islands and spend time together. This popcorn moment is an adorable happenstance that shows that sometimes even virtual characters can't resist the smell of good popcorn.
Animal Crossing continues to bring joy to players across the world. With the two-year anniversary nearing, it will be interesting to see what Nintendo is planning to do to celebrate the occasion. Last year, the first Animal Crossing anniversary gave players a few new items and a small update, but nothing extravagant happened to mark the occasion. This year players are hoping for more content and excitement, but nothing has been announced as of yet. Regardless, Animal Crossing: New Horizons still holds a place in players' hearts two years later.
