You can stay in the UK’s first Oliver Twist-themed holiday cottage – and kids will love it
A VICTORIAN home has been transformed into a themed holiday cottage – and it looks like something straight out of Oliver Twist.
The cottage, in Broadstairs, Kent, is the UK’s first Dickens-themed holiday home and is named after the Oliver character and shifty pick pocketer Fagin.

Named Fagin’s Den, the home has been decked out with furniture, books, games and artwork to make guests feel like they’ve stepped back in time.
As per the era, the cottage doesn’t come with a TV, but to keep guests in the 21st century, there is WiFi.
When guests arrive, they will step inside the cottage on the first floor and be welcomed into the lounge where seating surrounds an open fireplace.
Spiral stairs lead down to the basement where you’ll find the dining room and kitchen, which is kitted out with everything you need to make meals – which don’t have to be gruel.
On the second floor is the main bedroom and a bathroom, and on the third floor is the second bedroom and storage.
To get even more into character, the wardrobes are bursting with costumes for guests to dress up in and act out scenes from Oliver Twist.
There are prizes up for grabs as the home contains two treasure hunts – one for adults and one for kids – to find Fagin’s hidden stash.

To soak up even more Dickensian history, guests can take a two minute walk from the cottage to the Bleak House which is where Charles Dickens wrote David Copperfield.
Not just for history buffs, the cottage is also a short walk from pubs, restaurants, beach walks and shops.
The cottage can sleep up to four people and dogs are welcome.
Prices start from £90 per night and there is a two-night minimum stay.
The home was designed by The Fishermen’s Cottage which has six other properties in the town, and are available to rent via Airbnb or at holiday-cottages-broadstairs.co.uk
If that’s put you in the mood to visit some other themed holiday rentals, you can stay at a Harry Potter home complete with an indoor slide.
