He has now netted 692 times at club level and 115 times for Portugal – where he also holds the record for the most international goals of all time.
But his goalscoring began way back in the 2002/03 season when he netted five times for Sporting Lisbon.
He then transferred to Manchester United for his first spell at the club – a period which would catapult him to superstardom.
Just six goals in his first campaign for the Red Devils were accompanied by his first two for Portugal.
He then netted 16 in the 2004/05 season and 15 in the following term.
But by 2006/07 he had well and truly found his shooting boots.
Over the next three seasons – in which Man Utd would win the title on all three occasions – Ronaldo scored 28, 46 and 27 goals respectively.

Over that three-year spell, he enjoyed special moments such as the opener in the 2008 Champions League final.
He moved to Real Madrid as a prolific goalscorer and enjoyed a quite breathtaking nine-year spell with the Spanish giants.
Ronaldo kicked off his time in Spain with 34 goals in all competitions over the course of the 2009/10 season.
But that was just the start of his startling numbers as he managed 56, 69, 59, 62 and 66 over the next five campaigns.
His final three seasons with Madrid saw him manage tallies of 57, 56 and 54 (including goals for Portugal) – meaning he finished his spell at the club with a jaw-dropping 450 goals in 438 games.
And he has continued to find the back of the net with scary regularity since departing Madrid for Juventus.
He scored 31 times for club and country in his first season with Juve, before then adding 48 and 46 in the following two campaigns.
A Man Utd return was then confirmed last summer and he has managed 24 goals since then – 18 for Ralf Rangnick’s men and six for Portugal.
