Urgent evacuation at shopping centre after reports of ‘bomb threat’ as cops investigate

DETECTIVES have cordoned off a shopping center end evacuated terrified shoppers after a bomb threat. 

Police rushed to the Broadway Shopping Centre in Bexley, South East London, after reports of the threat this morning.

Officers evacuated terrified shoppers from the centre, and currently remain on the scene which has been cordoned off. 

Cops can be seen outside of a Starbucks store near to the Bexleyheath Clock Tower.

The incident is not being treated as terror-related.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 10:37hrs on Tuesday, 15 March, to reports of a bomb threat at a shopping centre on Albion Road, Bexley.

“The area has been evacuated as a precaution. Officers are currently in attendance and the incident is ongoing.

“This incident is not being treated as terror related.”

A spokesman for the Broadway Shopping Centre said: “Please be advised the shopping centre  has been evacuated and is currently Closed.  

“Apologies for any inconvenience caused.   When we have further information and are able to reopen we will let you know.”
