Arsenal legend Thierry Henry’s long-standing France record finally broken after Karim Benzema’s double for Real Madrid
KARIM BENZEMA has broken Thierry Henry’s French record following a double for Real Madrid on Monday night.
The 34-year-old scored a second half brace as the Spanish giants moved 10 points clear at the top of the LaLiga table.
The goals were the 412th and 413th of Benzema’s career for club and country.
That moves him beyond the tally of 411 set by France legend Henry between 1994 and 2014.
Benzema will undoubtedly go down as one of the greatest ever strikers.
He is currently fourth in the list of all-time top scorers in the Champions League on 79 – below only Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski.

And he is solidifying his legacy with a sensational season for Madrid.
He has already netted 32 goals in 34 appearances for them in all competitions.
That includes a hat-trick against Paris Saint-Germain last week which took his side through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
And his compatriot Henry was left stunned while doing some punditry for the game as Micah Richards admitted he had only just been convinced of Benzema’s quality.

Richards said: “But now, he’s convinced me.”
Henry responded: “Just now?”
Richards continued: “Of late, in the last six months. He’s convinced that he’s up there with Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski.”
A shocked Henry added: “Wow. Just tonight?!”
