In a new interview with the New York Times, Jesse told them that he wanted a new challenge as he was starting to feel “increasingly safe, protected, [and] insulated” on the long running ABC drama.
“I knew that as I designed my exit, the next thing I did had to be terrifying,” he added about his exit from the show. “I needed to get out of my comfort zone, I needed to go into a very unknown place.”
Jesse set his sights on Broadway, and will be starring in the new show Take Me Out.
