EastEnders star Steve McFadden faces court after ‘being caught nearly twice the speed limit’ on his moped
EASTENDERS hard man Steve McFadden is facing court for allegedly breaking a 20mph speed limit on his scooter.
The 62-year-old actor, who plays tough nut Phil Mitchell, was said to have been doing 35mph on October 10 last year.
He was pulled over by an officer with a mobile speed gun as he drove his Piaggio near his home in London.
The actor is due at Bromley magistrates court today to face the charges.
He could receive penalty points and a fine.
McFadden is known as a scooter fanatic and is sometimes spotted riding one to Elstree Studio, Herts, where EastEnders is filmed.
It is not the first time he has faced accusations for flouting road laws.
In 2010, he was photographed riding his motorcycle on a pavement — but police were never informed.

And in 1996 he was banned from driving after he was stopped at the wheel of his Rolls-Royce having sunk the equivalent of nine double vodkas.
His 18-month ban and £1,000 fine was criticised at the time by the Campaign Against Drink Driving.
The court was told McFadden originally planned to fight the case on grounds his drinks were spiked at a club.
The defence was pulled as it would have been too hard to prove.

The actor told officers he had drunk three pints of beer at 10.30pm.
But prosecutors told the court a breath test showed he had 80mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, which suggested he had drunk much more.
The limit is 35mcg.
