Full Cast for Jordan Peele's Stop-Motion Film Wendell & Wild Revealed
Comedy and filmmaking duo Key & Peele lead an impressive cast of young talent and veterans in their upcoming stop-motion film Wendell & Wild. Netflix acquired the project in 2018 and eventually had to push the release back into 2022 to fulfill its obligation of delivering six animated films annually. Despite the delay, Netflix is banking on the feature helmed by The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline director Henry Selick to strengthen their library of animated films. They will also rely on the undeniable success of Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, who will voice the titular characters, Wendell and Wild, two demons who go up against their arch-nemesis, the "the demon-dusting nun Sister Helley."
While Key & Peele's involvement was one of the leading factors of its early marketability, especially with the popularity of their self-titled comedy sketch series, Netflix has finally revealed the cast list of backing players. The YouTube trailer is longer than the Wendell & Wild teaser trailer that Netflix unveiled just before Halloween last year so that fans could get a first look at some of the film's secondary characters and the voices behind them. Those include the previously-mentioned Sister Helley, voiced by Angela Bassett, Ving Rhames' Buffalo Belzer, and some young stars, including Sam Zalaya in his feature debut playing Sister Helley's acolyte Raul.
Other primary cast members include Lyric Ross as Kat, the teen girl Wendell and Wild manipulate into summoning them to Earth, James Hong as Father Bests, Seema Virdi as Sloane, Tamara Smart as Siobhan, and Ramona Young as Sweetie. Natalie Martinez, Tantoo Cardinal, Gabrielle Dennis, Igal Naor, David Harewood, Maxine Peake, and Gary Gatewood also star in yet-unnamed roles. Until an official release date and trailer emerge for Wendell & Wild, Peele will look to turn heads again with the (potentially) alien-filled Nope coming out in July.
