Sensex, Nifty trade in range; Nifty near 16,900 level

The benchmark indices traded in a range during afternoon trade, buoyed by consumer durables and banks stocks. All the sectoral indices on the NSE were in the green. The Nifty hovered a tad below 16,900 level.
