God of War Freya Cosplay Transforms Fan Into A Vanir Goddess
An amazing God of War cosplay recreates the powerful Vanir goddess Freya, who masquerades as the lowly Witch of the Woods. The 2018 action game reinvented Santa Monica Studios' mythological saga by taking Kratos and his son Atreus on a brutal journey through Norse mythology. A bodybuilder's God of War cosplay recreated Kratos and his vast strength, and now a new cosplay brings Freya to life with equal authenticity.
The latest installment in the God of War franchise sees Kratos and Atreus embark on an epic quest to reach the tallest peak in the Nine Realms. Along the way the pair encounters both deadly foes and beloved supporting characters, including the talking head Mimir and the helpful witch Freya. The Vanir goddess plays a key role in the narrative, since her turbulent history with her son Baldur directly parallels Kratos and Atreus' relationship. Freya drove her son to madness with a curse meant to protect him, and despite her noble intentions some feel that Freya is God of War's main villain due to her arrogance.
Redditor Manulysart has now brought Freya to life in the form of an amazingly authentic cosplay. The breathtaking recreation captures every detail of the nature-loving deity, down to her ornate hair ornaments and mystical arm tattoos. The Freya cosplay even comes complete with a replica of Mimir, since the two characters share a history and are bitterly reunited in one of God of War's most amusing scenes. The cosplay is even photographed in a dense forest, further emphasizing Freya's relation on nature and her secret identity as the Witch of the Woods.

God of War introduces players to a wide assortment of mythological figures, and their godly designs make for particularly awe-inspiring cosplay. For example, a cosplay of God of War's Valkyries brings the brutal bosses and their armor to life in all their glory. The fearsome foes are found all across the game's world, and each brings a different fighting style to bear against Kratos and Atreus. This particular fan recreated Gunnr and Hildr, two Valkyries who are found in Midgard and Niflheim respectively.
Starting the game as an ally but ending it as a terrifying foe, Freya is one of the most fascinating members of the God of War supporting cast. While the Vanir goddess looks poised to challenge players in combat in God of War Ragnarök, Manulysart has captured a much more peaceful side of the regal character. With Mimir in tow, Freya has stepped right out of God of War to explore the actual forests of real-life Midgard.
God of War is available on PlayStation 4 and PC.
