Spring has begun in the Northern Hemisphere in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but knowing when it ends helps players make the most of the new season.

Seasons in Animal Crossing: New Horizons only somewhat align with their real-world counterparts, so the end of spring 2022 in New Horizons is somewhat off compared to its real date of June 20. In Animal Crossing, seasons align more with the general perception of seasons in the Northern Hemisphere; for example, most of the month of June is still spring, but it’s still heavily considered a “summer month” by many. In Animal Crossing, spring is over long before the actual summer solstice.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons seasons also change depending on the hemisphere the player selects near the start of the game. Springtime in the Northern Hemisphere is fall in the Southern Hemisphere, and vice-versa. Visiting a friend in a different hemisphere in New Horizons gives players the opportunity to see different seasons early and thus can catch different bugs and fish than they can on their own island.
Spring in New Horizons brings green trees, although the first few days of the season also bring cherry blossom petals that players can catch with their nets. All throughout spring, however, are fish and bugs specific to the season, as well as young spring bamboo that players can get from bamboo that they’ve planted. Players who want to make the most of the spring season in Animal Crossing: New Horizons will want to make note that the end of the season is different for Northern and Southern Hemisphere players. For those in the Northern Hemisphere, who have already started spring with New Horizons’ March-exclusive bugs and fish, there’s still plenty of spring left to enjoy. Players in the Southern Hemisphere won’t have to worry about spring for quite a while, but it never hurts to be prepared.

In the Northern Hemisphere, spring in New Horizons ends on May 31. Although signs of spring begin to blossom as early as February 25, when the island’s snow begins to melt and rain becomes more common, spring’s fish and bugs won’t appear until March 1. This gives players a full three months to make the most out of springtime. In the Southern Hemisphere, spring ends on November 30. Like in the Northern Hemisphere, signs of spring begin to creep in on August 25, but the season’s bugs and fish start to appear on September 1.
Because of the differences between hemispheres, some events, like New Horizons’ infamous Bunny Day celebration, are only observed in the spring in the Northern Hemisphere. Halloween and Turkey Day, which are usually associated with the fall, take place during the Southern Hemisphere’s spring timeframe. Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can make the most out of both these three-month periods by visiting other islands situated in a different hemisphere than their own and experiencing the various events during different seasons.
