Violence erupts in Philadelphia as man gunned down while carrying baby and nine others shot as cops issue warning

A MAN was killed while carrying a baby and nine others were injured in a string of shootings over a violent 24 hours in Philadelphia.

Following the violent Tuesday, many residents fear things will only get worse as the weather warms up.

There were five separate shooting events on Tuesday according to CBS Philly.

Around 3am, two men were shot in their car about a block away from Temple University Hospital.

Police were on patrol nearby when they heard multiple gunshots and went to investigate.

They found two men, ages 23 and 28, sitting on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Both men were hit in the back and are in critical condition, police said.

During the day, an 80-year-old grandmother was also shot while three teens were playing with a gun.

According to police, the victim’s grandson and his two friends were playing with a gun on the second-floor when it fired and hit the woman who was in a wheelchair on the first floor.

On Tuesday night, police say 30-year-old Stephen Hoston was standing on the sidewalk holding a baby in a car seat when he was shot four times around 7.

Hoston, who is believed to be the baby’s uncle, fell to the ground before he was rushed to a hospital where he later died.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small says five spent shell casings were found and Hoston appeared to be targeted.

“We’re very, very lucky that that child was not struck by gunfire,” added Small.

No arrests have been made. The US Sun has reached out Philadelphia Police Department for a statement.

On the same night, in two separate shootings, six others were injured.

A 21-year-old woman, an 18-year-old male, and a 17-year-old male are all expected to survive after being shot around 4 pm.

The 21-year-old was reportedly hit by stray gunfire, possibly from one of about 17 spent shell casings found about a block away.

She was caught in the crossfire while walking to a friend’s house and was hit in the arm.

The 18-year-old was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Later, a 17-year old showed up at the hospital connected to this shooting, he is currently being held as a prisoner.

Around 8:30 pm, three men were shot during a party. Police say a gun battle broke out outside of the home.

Two 39-year-olds and a 40-year-old were hit by gunfire. One of the victims was placed in stable condition and two others were listed as critical, according to police.
