No. 9 Arkansas Heads to Tucson For MountainView Collegiate
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 9 Arkansas Women’s Golf is gearing up for the stretch run, as Head Coach Shauna Taylor’s Hogs are headed to Tucson for the MountainView Collegiate. The event, co-hosted by Missouri and Kansas State, will be the third of the spring season for the Razorbacks. The field at the MountainView may be the strongest one of the year so far, as No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 6 San Jose State, No. 10 Florida, No. 19 Texas A&M and No. 25 Texas Tech are set to take part.
Taylor is opting for veteran leadership at the top of her lineup in Tucson, as the first two spots are occupied by juniors Kajal Mistry and Ela Anacona. Mistry was great at the stacked Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, finishing the event tied for ninth, her second top-10 finish this season. The Johannesburg, South Africa native saved her best for last on Hilton Head Island, going for a team-low 70 in the final round to shoot up the leaderboard. Anacona, meanwhile, finished tied for 16th in her spring debut at the Darius Rucker. She was steady all event long, firing back-to-back 72s on days two and three to stay inside the top-20 on the individual leaderboard.
Julia Gregg will hold down the third spot in the lineup. Though she finished tied for 65th at the Darius Rucker, Gregg notched a top-25 finish at the Moon Golf Invitational just two weeks prior at the Moon Golf Invitational. Following behind Gregg is the sophomore duo of Cory Lopez and Miriam Ayora. Both finished tied for 68th in Hilton Head Island, but both finished inside the top-50 at the Moon Golf Invitational. Lopez finished 26th at the Florida event, carding a four-over 220, while Ayora carded a seven-over 223, including a team-low 71 on the final day of play.
