Encanto Art Imagines Madrigal Siblings As Beautiful Tarot Cards
New Encanto fan art imagines three Madrigal siblings from the hit Disney film as beautiful tarot cards. Encanto is of course Walt Disney Animation Studios' hit 2021 movie, which tells the tale of a Colombian family with magical powers, and Mirabel (played by Stephanie Beatriz), the only family member not granted a gift as a child. The film is helmed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard and features music from Hamilton and Moana composer Lin-Manuel Miranda. Since its release, Encanto has received rave reviews from audiences and has been nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Animated Feature.
Much of Encanto's acclaim comes from both Miranda's immensely catchy music and the beautiful visuals that accompany it. The film offers an incredibly colorful depiction of Colombian culture, and Disney's animators certainly did not hold back when creating Encanto's world. From the scenery and costumes to the character design and the magic itself, Encanto has been hailed as a feast for the eyes. Due to this, it's no wonder that the movie has managed to inspire copious amounts of fan-art since its release back in November.
In some of the most original Encanto fan art yet, Twitter user and digital artist @sasklucy turns three members of the Madrigal family into tarot cards. Each card is deeply detailed and succeeds in capturing as much color as Encanto itself displays. Pepa, whose power sees the weather change with her mood, is depicted as "The Moon," with stunning imagery of a storm raging behind her. Bruno, who can see into the future, is depicted as "The Hermit" (perhaps an allusion to the character living inside the walls in the film) and is depicted having a vision while holding an hourglass. Finally, Julieta, who can heal any injury with her food, is depicted as "The Empress" and can be seen mixing ingredients in a bowl with a beautiful pomegranate inspired background. Naturally, the comments section has exploded with praise for the artist's work, and many have joined the conversation to point out exactly how much detail has gone into each card. Each Encanto Madrigal character is depicted beautifully, but one can also spend a great amount of time examining the backgrounds and discovering new details. Of course, the majority of comments are focused on one subject: everyone wants to know if there is a full deck and where it can be purchased.
As of yet, there is no full Encanto tarot deck, but with such overwhelmingly positive responses to the first three cards, perhaps there will be in the future. The artist's tarot cards are certainly a testament to the talent of the animators who brought the Disney movie to life, and it is very likely this is not the last stunning piece of fan art that will be inspired by it. And with an Encanto sing-along version coming to Disney+, the ways for fans of the movie to interact with the original work are only continuing to grow.
