Jacob DeGrom Wows in Live BP

Per Tim Healey of Newsday Sports, Jacob deGrom faced a few batters Thursday at Clover Park: Francisco Lindor, Jeff McNeil were two of them, and he struck them both out.
DeGrom struck out Lindor on three pitches and McNeil on four. Lindor walked away saying, “WOW!” about how deGrom was looking. After at least touching deGrom with a check-swing foul ball, McNeil was heard saying, “Yes! I touched it!”

Pete Alonso also faced deGrom Thursday afternoon. He hit a line drive up the middle and also proclaimed, “I touched It!”
DeGrom was throwing live to hitters for the first time in camp after a bullpen session a few days ago. The Mets star right-hander announced on Monday that he’s 100% healthy entering this season and that he would exercise his opt-out clause following the 2022 campaign.
The Mets open Grapefruit League play on Saturday. Their starting rotation for the first four games was also announced Thursday:
- Saturday – Josh Walker
- Sunday (Home at Clover Park) – David Peterson
- Monday – Max Scherzer
- Tuesday (Home at Clover Park) – Jacob deGrom
Teammates describe deGrom being in “mid-season form” and looking ready for the official start of spring training games and the regular season in a couple weeks.
