Gilroy: Man killed in collision with semi-truck is identified
GILROY — A man killed in a collision with a semi-truck Monday night, spilling a large amount of fuel on the roadway, has been identified by authorities.
Gilroy police responded to the crash at 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Monterey Road and Travel Park Circle, according to a police news release. The driver of a passenger vehicle, identified as 27-year-old Modesto resident Jonathon Gwin, was killed in a collision with a semi-truck.
The crash also ruptured the semi-truck’s fuel tack, causing diesel fuel to flood the road, police say. The road was closed until 4:30 a.m. for the investigation, removing the cars and cleaning up the spill.
