The three best products to ensure you get a good night’s sleep as clocks go forward
CLOCKS go forward next week, which can affect your kip.
Sleep was the fifth most-searched term on Holland & Barrett’s website in 2021, yet very few people take steps to help them relax before bedtime.
I look at ways to help you sleep and our Beauty Editor puts curling tongs to the test.

BATH — One of the best ways to get a better night’s sleep is to adopt a relaxing bedtime routine.
Enjoying a warm bath can help signal to your body and mind that it’s time to start winding down.
Slow Ageing Essential’s essential bath essence contains soothing oils of rose, juniper and cypress. It is amazing.

It smells gorgeous and also moisturises your skin — and, yes, I did sleep better after having a soak.
Luckily you only need a few drops as it is pricey at £51 for 100ml. See slowageing.co.uk.
SPRAY — Sleep sprays make your bedroom smell like a luxurious hotel and help you drift off at the same time.
The deepest sleep pillow mist from Norfolk Natural Living is a blend of 100 per cent pure essential oils — lavender, which is great to aid racing minds, and mandarin orange for calming.

I’ve slept like a baby since spritzing this on my pillow.
The bottle also contains amethyst gemstones which are said to clear your thoughts. £20 for 50ml, norfolknaturalliving.com.
PILLS — Hush & Hush’s Mind Your Mind sleep capsules contain a mix of time-tested sleep aids, including amino acids, herbs such as valerian root, holy basil leaf and chamomile.
They also contain magnesium and rhodiola rosea which help alleviate fatigue.
These capsules do what they say — and without any grogginess the next day, which is the problem with many sleeping pills.
You simply take one, an hour before bed. £44 for 60 pills, hushandhush.co.uk.

BUDGET — Hot Tools Pro Signature curling iron 38mm (£39.50, Amazon): This gold curling iron certainly added some bling to my dressing table.
The barrel is available in three sizes of thickness (25mm, 32mm and 38mm).
I went for the largest size in an attempt to finally nail the elusive Hollywood curl.
The iron heats up really fast and I found the handle easy to manage on my hair.
The curls stayed in for a good four hours, but they couldn’t withstand the elements on a blustery winter’s day.
MID – Beauty Works triple barrel waver (£70, beautyworksonline.com): I was excited to try this impressive contraption after seeing several celebrities using one on Instagram.
Bulkier than the rest of my hair kit, but the triple-barrel effect pays off as it was quicker to do all my hair.
It gets very hot so be careful with your fingers when weaving strands of hair in and out.
Overall, I was delighted with my beach-wave results.
LUXURY – GHD Curve classic wave wand (£139, ghdhair.com): The oval barrel shape was perfect for looking casually coiffed.
It worked well on my shoulder-length, thin hair and I found it easy to use and sleek to hold. The grip was ergonomic and it had a handy long lead.
I also liked that it makes a little beep when it’s heated for use. I’d recommend the GHD heat protector spray to avoid damage and breakage.
The hold lasted and I didn’t need to layer on hair spray. The price is definitely worth the investment and I found it to be really efficient. This was my favourite.
