Luxury watch collection ‘worth £500,000’ stolen from five-star London hotel
A COLLECTION of luxury watches worth an estimated half a million pounds has been stolen from a five-star hotel.
The timepieces were due to be displayed at the London Watch Show at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, Central London.
They belonged to Scottish specialist Jonathan Gilbert, of the Edinburgh Watch Company.
A source said: “All watches were delivered and locked in the hotel’s vault by security.
“On Friday, it was discovered that several of Jonathan’s watches were missing.
“It’s unclear whether they actually made it to the vault.”

Yesterday, Mr Gilbert confirmed he had spoken to the police but said he could not comment on what had happened.
On his website, Mr Gilbert says: “I have an interest in luxury wristwatches which spans over 30 years.
“Having bought and sold hundreds of luxury Swiss watches I now have an extensive knowledge and network.”
