Kentucky clerk who refused to marry same-sex couples violated their constitutional rights, judge rules

After the landmark decision by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2015 that guaranteed same-sex couples the right to marry, Kim Davis, an elected clerk in Kentucky county, refused to comply with the law. She spent five nights in jail for contempt.
