The Vampire Diaries: 10 Caroline Quotes That Prove She's A Villain
Caroline is one of the most beloved main characters on The Vampire Diaries and she even continues to make some voice-over appearances on the spin-off, Legacies. She is a type-A perfectionist with a passion for helping those in need, but she knows when to confront others about their behavior.
All this being said, Caroline does have her darker moments and there are definitely times in the show when she can come across as more villainous than she intends to be. There are even several quotes that show how she often rudely confront her friends and family.
Caroline says this line to Damon near the beginning of season 1, which is when Elena is still struggling with the grief from losing her parents. It's certainly not something that a genuinely supportive friend would say about someone they love.
Adding "with complete sensitivity" makes this quote even more villainous because she's acknowledging that she knows she's in the wrong, but she says what's on her mind anyway. It's just not respectful in the slightest.
Caroline, who has some of the best TVD quotes, leaves this message with Stefan after his girlfriend, Ivy, goes off to eat some of the Whitmore college kids. While this is a bad situation, she blames Stefan for the girl's behavior and chews him out just a little too much for his lack of involvement.
Though she is upset for a good reason, she was the one that lost Ivy and she's just trying to pin her blame on someone else so that she doesn't feel as bad. Overall, it's not the nicest thing for a friend to do, especially since she's on a time crunch to find Ivy.
While this was also one of Caroline's shadiest burns in TVD, the quote is seriously disrespectful to say to one's mother. Sherriff Forbes was too focused on keeping the town safe to date around, but her daughter just didn't see that side of things when she said this.
Though it may not be obvious in the early seasons that Caroline and her mother love each other, their bond does eventually grow. It just hurts in the moment to hear Caroline tell her mother that she's not good enough at dating.
Caroline says this to Elena while going through their mysterious new roommate's things. While she is right to be cautious, it's never really a good thing to go through the personal belongings of a stranger.
What makes her a villain in this situation is that she doesn't feel remorse for doing it and she actually blames her actions on her roommate for taking too long in the shower. While it doesn't make her the main antagonist, this quote does make audiences question her morality.
In this moment, Caroline, who usually has some of the most romantic quotes in TVD, confronts Jeremy because he is talking to his dead ex-girlfriends and it's making Bonnie, her best friend and his current girlfriend, feel both jealous and concerned. Though it's rational, she's much ruder than she needs to be.
Caroline knows that Jeremy does care about Bonnie, but the way she shows it is by telling him he's an idiot. Though she has the right intention, she makes herself the villain by being so harsh towards him even though she should be more understanding.
Caroline says this to Stefan because she's mad at him, she has a lot of things on her mind and he always comes to her with his problems. However, this line makes Caroline a villain because she's basically telling him she doesn't care about his feelings or his safety.
Caroline and Stefan have an extremely complicated relationship over the course of The Vampire Diaries, but she's in the wrong at this moment because he just wants a little bit of support, but she ices him out completely.
Caroline sassily says this to Lily, Stefan and Damon's mother. The remark is extremely off-color even for Caroline and shows just how little respect she has for the woman that raised two of her closest allies.
Comparing anyone to a dictator is harsh and this line just makes Caroline seem really distasteful. She becomes the villain of the scenes because of how this line stands out and stays with viewers throughout the rest of the episode.
This quote, about her best friend Elena, has a little humor to it, it also has a little bit of a sinister tinge behind it. She's mad at Elena for all that she's been involved with and she doesn't know what to do besides reacting with violence. Thankfully, Stefan's there.
Elena is the protagonist of the show and Caroline's best friend, but she doesn't care because she's too upset about the poor choices her friend has made. This makes Caroline a villain because, no matter what a friend does, it's never okay to even make a joke about putting them in danger.
This quote is a brutal awakening that Stefan needed, but it was definitely cruel. The two had been through so much together as each other's sponsors and friends. Caroline giving up on their bond was something Stefan didn't see coming at all.
At the point she said this line, they had also built up some chemistry that now Stefan thinks will never be able to address. Caroline certainly knows how to cut deep and hurt people to their core with her words. The way she says this proves that TVD's Stefan and Caroline are not soulmates.
Caroline says this to her mom in one of the earlier seasons of The Vampire Diaries before she is diagnosed with cancer, but the phrase still leaves a stinging sensation. This is particularly harsh because Caroline, by the end of the series, still holds a lot of guilt for worsening her mother's condition.
She loves her mom dearly, but this line came straight out of teen angst and nothing else. Thankfully, Sherriff Forbes was able to easily forgive her daughter and their relationship was incredibly strong by the time she passed away.
