Not Every Version Of Batman Has Bruce Wayne's Intelligence
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Suicide Squad #13
DC's War for Earth-3 crossover event has begun, proving that not every version of Batman in the multiverse is as smart as the main Dark Knight of Earth-0. The latest issue of Suicide Squad provides the crossover's second chapter, revealing the true fate of the Crime Syndicate's evil Batman known as Owlman. However, while some members of Amanda Waller's Task Force X were hoping to use Owlman, it turns out he's not as smart as they assumed he would be as a Batman counterpart.
In War for Earth-3 #1, the culmination of Waller's plans has finally arrived. Invading Earth-3 with a large force of agents, the director is attempting to secure the world and achieve peace using whatever means necessary. As such, this new crossover will involve Waller's team, Rick Flag's Suicide Squad who's looking to arrest her and bring her back home, the Teen Titans, and the evil Justice League of Earth-3 known as the Crime Syndicate. Having studied the supervillains' movements and weaknesses for quite some time, Waller has already managed to forge an "alliance" with the Syndicate's Ultraman after subduing the Emerald Knight and having her Talon murder Owlman after this first chapter.
However, the second chapter of War for Earth-3 takes place in Suicide Squad #13 from Dennis Hopeless, Robbie Thomson, Dexter Soy, Eduardo Pansica, and Júlio Ferreira. Featuring Rick Flag's team scattered and on the run after Waller's new alliance with the Crime Syndicate, it seems no one is paying attention to Talon and Culebra who are allegedly agents of Amanda Waller's. With Talon's reveal that he didn't actually kill Owlman and has him in custody, the duo now has a secret ally to help them with their true mission of taking down Waller once and for all. However, they assumed that this evil version of Batman was as smart as the Dark Knight they're familiar with back on Earth-0.
Unfortunately, Owlman does not carry the same technological know-how or intelligence as the primary Batman of the DC Universe. Although Culebra's assessment that he's a "dumbass" proves true after she enters his mind, she does gain some of the information she and Talon were looking for. While Thomas Wayne Jr. doesn't have the same kind of files and data stored away on how to kill each member of his team as Bruce Wayne does with the Justice League, he does know how to take down Ultraman who's become the key to taking down Waller.
While Owlman may be the dark counterpart to Batman, it seems they have more differences beyond their motivations and morals. It seems this evil Batman isn't as smart as the primary one, which could prove to be his downfall. That being said, it will be interesting to see if the knowledge Owlman does know about Ultraman will work in Talon and Culebra's favor as they work to bring down Waller as the War for Earth-3 continues from DC Comics.
