Thor's Granddaughters Save The Multiverse With An Arsenal of Hammers

Warning: contains preview pages for Avengers Forever #4!

The granddaughters of Thor are saving the multiverse with an army of Mjölnirs. The newly launched Avengers Forever has explored the Marvel multiverse, and in a preview for issue four, Thor’s granddaughters from an alternate timeline travel the multiverse with their enchanted hammers and arrive just in time to save a Tony Stark variant from an army of Red Skulls. The issue is on sale in print and digital March 23.

Avengers Forever spins out of recent developments in the main Avengers title. A new Masters of Evil, consisting of Red Skull variants from across the multiverse, has embarked on a campaign of terror, invading Earth-616. The mysterious Avenger Prime, who helps keep the multiverse safe with an army of Deathloks, sends one to Earth-616, where it and Robbie Reyes, the Ghost Rider were teleported to Earth-818, which has been subjugated by the Black Skull (a terrifying Red Skull/Venom hybrid). And, fighting alongside them was Earth-818’s Tony Stark. Ghost Rider, who learned of his true destiny as the All-Rider, used his new abilities to vanquish the Black Skull, only for them to be confronted by an entire army of Red Skulls. Now in a preview for Avengers Forever #4, Thor’s granddaughters join the fray—but does it spell doom for the Red Skull? The issue is written by Jason Aaron, illustrated by James Towe, colored by Guru-eFX and lettered by Cory Petit.

Marvel provided Comic Book Resources with a preview of the issue, shared below. The preview opens with the granddaughters of Thor (who previously appeared in Aaron’s Thor run) are using their Mjölnir variants to search the multiverse for a “world in need.” Meanwhile, on Earth-818, Tony Stark, Moon Knight and their comrades are facing an army of Red Skulls. Stark and the rest of the Avengers fight back, and when all hope looks lost, Thor’s granddaughters arrive. At first, they are not sure who to fight, but quickly realize the symbiote-infested Red Skulls are their enemy, thanks to reading their grandfather’s “ancient tomes” about Gorr and the Necrosword.

The preview ends with Thor’s granddaughters ready to leap into battle, leaving readers waiting until March 23 to see how the battle plays out. One thing is clear: Thor’s granddaughters are just as imposing a presence as he can be and are as equally motivated by the concepts of justice and freedom. They also clearly like a good brawl—just like Thor. It is also clear that Thor’s granddaughters are much more skilled with their Mjölnirs, using them to locate people in need throughout the multiverse, and then using them to actually travel to where they are needed. Will Thor’s granddaughters join Tony Stark in his team of multiversal Avengers? Whatever the case, the arrival of Thor’s granddaughters signals that the tide of the battle might have turned.

Using their enchanted hammers, Thor’s granddaughters did him proud by traveling the multiverse, helping the Avengers face down an army of Red Skulls.
