RHONY: Eboni K Williams Admits She Doesn’t Want Ramona Singer Fired
Fans of The Real Housewives of New York may be demanding Ramona Singer get the boot ahead of season 14, but Eboni K. Williams says that the 65-year-old deserves to continue filming. As one of the original cast members, Ramona has been involved in countless conflicts since season 1. From berating Bethenny Frankel on a bridge during RHONY season 3 to hashing it out with Luann de Lesseps across the years, the star has been a polarizing figure for Bravo viewers. Despite her general resistance to change (see: every vacation room assignment), Ramona and newcomer Eboni hit it off and even referred to one another as "friends" online.
As the first Black housewife to be featured on RHONY, Eboni's unprecedented addition has been a hit with Bravo fans. Known as a lawyer who served as co-host on Fox News Specialists, Eboni's interactions with the other women throughout season 13 were praised by viewers and critics, especially in regards to social issues like Black Lives Matter. After enjoying each other's company, things came to a head for Eboni and Ramona when politics entered the conversation during an early episode; when Eboni, who supported Joe Biden during the 2020 election, attempted to talk to Ramona, who is thought to be a Trump-supporting Republican, things quickly went left. After causing a scene at Eboni's hosted Black Shabbat, it was later revealed that Ramona was formally investigated for alleged racism against the 38-year-old; the RHONY season 13 reunion was reportedly partially canceled by the move, a first for Bravo.
After all of Ramona's inappropriate comments, it's no doubt surprising to many that Eboni wants to see Ramona return for RHONY season 14. Speaking to Page Six, the star says, “If I’m just looking at what was on the show, I don’t think anything on the show warrants the firing of Ramona," although reiterating that is simply her opinion in a nod to The Real Housewives of Orange County stars Tamra Judge and Vicki Gunvalson. Remarking that Ramona's point of view is shared by many, Eboni argues that Ramona should not be fired over a difference of opinion or belief. "If the answer is, ‘Well, we don’t like that,’ or, ‘We’re going to decide that is not “mainstream” and we’re going to silence it,’” Eboni reasons, “[Then], personally, I think that’s where radicalization and other really dangerous things take place.”
Interestingly, Eboni admits that despite their glaring differences, she still finds Ramona to be quite entertaining. “The gag is I enjoy Ramona Singer, I really do. There’s a lot of quirky personality elements that we actually share in terms of taste and lifestyle,” Eboni reveals. Explaining that the two stars are self-made businesswomen with a passion for money-making, the North Carolina native laughs off the tense political conversation in Ramona's apartment. Viewers watched as Eboni kept her composure and waited for Ramona to return after leaving the room; looking back on the moment, Eboni tells Page Six, "I believe Ramona can sit there like a big girl and have a conversation that doesn’t have [an] agreement, and still enjoy her champagne and have a lovely night with a friend."
Eboni may be taking the high road after a season of Ramona's "quirks," but the majority of Bravo viewers believe that Ramona's time with the network is up. Since other housewives like RHOC's Kelly Dodd and The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Phaedra Parks have been let go, fans feel like Ramona is the next star who deserves to have their contract end. With no confirmation of Ramona's fate with the series yet, her appearance on The Real Housewives of New York season 14 can go either way.
