We welcome Boroughmuir Thistle to Glasgow today, in what is our fifth SWPL2 game of 2022. Covid, odd number of teams in SWPL2 and Scottish Cup postponements have all contributed to make this season a stop/start one.
In our last game, two weeks ago, we were beaten 3-1 by Dundee United at the Regional Performance Centre, Dundee.
Currently Boroughmuir Thistle sit third in SWPL2, whereas we are rooted at the bottom of the table.
The last time we played Boroughmuir Thistle, in February, the score was 4-0 to the Edinburgh side.
League form coming into the game:
Queen’s Park: LWLDL
Boroughmuir Thistle: WWLLD.
Coach Barry Rodgers thoughts before the game: “The preparations have been going well for the game. Having no game last weekend has allowed us to get some freshness into the players and re-group”.
This week’s training has been good. You can feel the squad building the communication together as we train, so we feel as though we are in a good place. We’ve had a couple of good performances over the past few games, so we are looking to build on that and keep moving forward”.
Boroughmuir are having a good season. They are a good experienced team. Very direct in the way they play. But they can also play a bit of football as well. It’s going to be a challenge but we feel we can match that. We feel we have good enough players and, collectively as a squad, together to go and do something in the game. It will require full focus and a big team effort but it’s one we are all ready for”.
Kick off is 2:10pm on the outdoor pitches at Toryglen.
