I’m a professional make-up artist, there are five mistakes you’re making & they’re why your face looks cakey
THE key to great make-up is avoiding the common mistakes that can make your face look orange and cakey.
Professional make-up artist Kaila Gibson took to TikTik to share the mistakes she sees all the time and how you can avoid them.
Step one is to a flawless finish is the perfect foundation shade[/caption] You can use coloured lip balms and more to help colour correct[/caption]Most make-up mistakes start with foundation, we know it’s important to get the right shade, but the pro says people are still getting it wrong.
if you pick a shade that’s too light it will highlight any large pores and unwanted texture as well as washing you out.
The perfect shade will blend into your neck seamlessly, don’t be tempted to go too dark because it could oxidise throughout the day, turning darker as a result.

Before foundation for glowing skin it’s best to moisturise, but Kaila says that not allowing enough time between this and apply foundation can result in your foundation sliding around your face, always wait at least 10 minutes.
If you’ve got deep eyebags or red cheeks, the makeup lover says colour correcting these help achieve a flawless look.
You can use peachy concealers or even lipsticks under your eyes to cover dark circles and green coloured makeup to cancel out any redness.

Be careful no too apply too much concealer, overdoing it can make fine lines and wrinkles more obvious, instead just focus a small amount on the inner corner under your eyes, no need to drag it out further.
You might’ve been told to apply blush to the apples of your cheeks, but this is a huge mistake according to the pro.
Blush should be applied to the highpoints on your cheeks, probably higher than you think, for a lifted effect.
