Christian Eriksen forced to miss Brentford clash at Leicester after positive Covid test putting Denmark return in doubt
CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN missed out on Brentford’s Premier League clash with Leicester after testing positive for Covid.
The Danish superstar was expected to be in the squad ahead of the fixture, but he has been struck with illness.
Thomas Frank confirmed the news in a pre-match interview with Sky Sports.
The Brentford boss – whose side ended up losing 2-1 – said: “Unfortunately he had covid, and I think the first negative test was today so it was just too early to get him involved for this game.
“It’s a pity, he’s finally up to something really promising but it’s only a few days so he’ll come back soon.”
Eriksen was due to join up with the Denmark national team after the game, however his return to international football will now be delayed.

Earlier this week he was selected for international duty for the first time since his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 last year.
The midfielder joined the Bees in January and has certainly impressed upon his return to the Premier League.
He began his spell in West London with victories over relegation candidates Norwich and Burnley.
Now he has this year’s World Cup in his sights, with the hope of adding to his 109 Denmark caps.

Earlier this year, he said: “My goal is to play in the World Cup in Qatar.
“I want to play. That’s been my mindset all along.
“It’s a goal, a dream. Whether I’ll be picked is another thing. But it’s my dream to come back.
“I’m sure I can because I don’t feel any different.
“Physically, I’m back in top shape.
“My dream is to rejoin the national team and play at Parken again and prove that it was a one-timer and that it won’t happen again.
“I want to prove I’ve moved on and that I can play [for] the national team again.
“Again, it’s up to the manager to assess my level. But my heart is not an obstacle.”
