Rangers fans continue Celtic friendly protest as tennis balls and toilet roll force THREE stoppages in play
RANGERS fans continued their protest against the Sydney Super Cup and forced THREE stoppages in play at Dens Park.
Supporters have continued to vent their frustration at the Ibrox club’s participation in the friendly tournament with Celtic later this year.
Banners and protests have been held at previous Rangers games and today’s clash proved no different.
Within two minutes of the game kicking off, supporters showered the Dundee penalty box with toilet roll and tennis balls.
That forced Bobby Madden to pause the game for a minute while stewards cleared the pitch.
Then on nine minutes, with Dundee preparing to take a corner with a 1-0 lead, tennis balls covered the penalty area again.
Seconds after the restart following half-time and toilet roll again filled the penalty box, this time the goal Rangers were defending.
Allan McGregor and Connor Goldson were then seen with arms outstretched towards the supporters.
During the break in play, supporters sang: “You can shove your Aussie friendly up you’re a***.”
A banner was also unfurled which read: “You’ll jump into bed with Glasgow Celtic.”

TV cameras zoomed into managing director Stewart Robertson sitting in the stand.
Rangers have been contacted for comment.
Reports in New Zealand suggest that the event could be in “serious doubt” due to issues behind the scenes.
Club 1872 – who also hold a significant shareholding in Rangers – are hoping that proves to be the case after seeing the club completely blank their protests.
Jason Pine of Sky Sports NZ is reporting unresolved issues with organisers are escalating – putting the whole event into doubt.
He wrote on Twitter: “Hearing football’s Sydney Super Cup may be in serious doubt.
“Unresolved issues with organiser escalating behind the scenes according to local sources.
“Launch may have been premature.”
The showdown between Celtic and Rangers is set for the 83,500 capacity Accor Stadium in Sydney.
The Glasgow derby down under is due to be played on November 20.
