Godzilla vs. Power Rangers Is the Monster Battle You've Always Wanted
The creators of the upcoming Godzilla and Power Rangers crossover comic are hinting at some of the treats awaiting readers. Godzilla vs. Power Rangers will not just bring the titular hero team face-to-face with the ultimate movie monster - it will also merge both of their worlds as monsters from each universe find a place within the series.
Godzilla vs. Power Rangers is an upcoming series from IDW Publishing. Beginning this month, it stars classic Power Rangers villain, Rita Repulsa, who will initiate the contact with Godzilla. Instead of finding a world of sanctuary away from her usual foes, she will encounter Godzilla and end up in over her head. However, she and the Power Rangers won't be alone in this endeavor.
According to a new discussion on YouTube from IDW Publishing, monsters from both universes will be along for the ride. Series writer Cullen Bunn and series artist Freddie Williams II discuss their thoughts on the series, their appreciation for both franchises, and give a few hints at what fans may be able to expect from this incredible crossover. The series also features the work of Andrew Dalhouse. The Dragonzord will have a lot to deal with as the Power Rangers begin their latest adventure. The cover shows the Dragonzord, confirming it will face the King of the Monsters, and the Dinozords are also mentioned within the series' synopsis. In the video, Cullen Bunn says, "We get to play with a lot of the Godzilla universe monsters and what's interesting is we get to throw in a lot of the Power Rangers universe monsters, and I think it's super fun to see those two types of monsters interact with each other." Freddie Williams II adds, "It's fun to draw them together as well."
It's likely that fans will be getting far more than they initially expected when this series was announced. While Rita Repulsa was known to be involved and Goldar was featured on Cover B of the first issue, no other monsters from the Power Rangers universe have been officially revealed. Additionally, Godzilla is the only identified participant from his universe, thus far. However, this discussion reveals that plenty more monsters will be featured from both worlds, giving fans the ultimate Power Rangers/kaiju battle. If Godzilla's allies and enemies turn up for one-on-one battles with the Power Rangers' Zords, this will be one for the pop-culture history books, so comic fans of both franchises will definitely want to be along for the ride.
Aliens, Dinozords, kaiju, and Godzilla will all be coming into one big conflict, in a crossover of epic proportions. Combining two franchises famous for their towering creatures, this is a perfect marriage that is sure to bring lots of action and mayhem for classic, beloved characters.
