Deadpool's Healing Powers Are Pathetic Compared to His Daughter's
Although Deadpool’s healing factor has saved his life countless times and made him effectively immortal, the healing factor passed onto his daughter Ellie leaves Wade Wilson's looking pathetic in comparison. And it's not even close.
When Deadpool learned of his daughter, he did his best to play a father role... while also protecting her from the unpredictable insanity that is both his career and life. Despite his best efforts, Ellie still ends up following in her father’s footsteps into the far-off future of 2099. Appearing to not have inherited any of her father’s powers, Ellie later proves otherwise, exhibiting a healing factor powerful enough to regenerate her completely upon sudden death -- with an added bonus defying science and medicine.
In Deadpool #25 by Gerry Duggan and Scott Koblish, a middle-aged Ellie joins Wade in combat against his other daughter Warda Wilson a.k.a. Deadpool 2099, with the goal of reclaiming the family name and legacy. During the battle, Warda succeeds in lighting Ellie on fire, forcing Wade to watch as his daughter seemingly dies, with only her charred remains left behind. Thankfully, Ellie proves she is Deadpool’s daughter and then some, regenerating in the teenage form she had reached when her powers first manifested -- with all of her memories and previous knowledge intact.
Deadpool’s origin as a failed experiment of Weapon X gave him his healing factor, helping to save him from death, but at the expense of disfiguring him and warping his already unstable mind. Although Wade’s healing factor allowed him to live longer than regular people, it did nothing to protect his brain (as the older Deadpool had trouble remembering names, places, and events in his life). Ellie’s powers allow her to regenerate to her teenage form, the point where her powers first manifested, but with none of her knowledge lost. While Wade's powers have been shown as hindering or debilitating him, Ellie’s powers not only save her from death, but restore her to her prime without losing any of the experience she’d accumulated previously.
While it's unclear if this version of 2099 is the same future that Spider-Man 2099 Miguel O’Hara hails from, this version of Deadpool’s daughter has the best of both worlds. She has enough training to make herself formidable, and a healing factor without the limits that curse her father. Meaning Ellie faces a future full of possibilities, should she decide that immortality isn’t for her.
